Governor Brian Schweitzer, Superintendent of Public Instruction Denise Juneau, and Board of Public Education Chairperson Patty Myers have announced Montana will apply for a once in a lifetime Race to the Top grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The Montana Plan allows the state to design and implement innovative changes for the future of our students, teachers, schools, and communities. This page provides information for educators and the public to learn more about Montana’s plan and how school districts can participate.

Memorandum of Understanding
Local Education Agencies (LEAs) that want to participate in Race to the Top are required to submit a signed
Memorandum of Understanding indicating their commitment and support for Montana’s application. The Memorandum of Understanding is due back
Wednesday, May 19, 2010.
Key Dates
April 26 – MOUs available to school districts
May 19 – MOUs should be returned to racetothetop@mt.gov by 5:00 PM
June 1 – Montana’s application due to U.S. Department of Education
